Join us for the screening of the movie a "Touch of Spice", which illustrates the events and life consequences of the 1955 Istanbul pogrom against the Greek minority, through the eyes of a young boy. A discussion of the historical and political events will follow the screening.

About the event
To commemorate the 70 year anniversary of the Istanbul pogrom (sometimes referred to as Septemvriana), a government-instigated series of riots against the Greek minority of Istanbul in September 1955, HCAAO is hosting a screening of the critically acclaimed film a "Touch of Spice" by Tassos Boulmetis.
The movie will be followed by a discussion of the historical and political events by Sakis Gekas, Associate Professor, the Hellenic Heritage Foundation Chair in Modern Greek History at York University and president of HCAAO and Phil Triadafilopoulos, Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto and vice-president of HCAAO.
