Abstract

This talk examines the intellectual trajectory of Perry Anderson over the last twenty-five years, focusing on the relationship between history and politics in his mature work. Souvlis will argue that Anderson’s enduring significance as one of the most important Marxist historians and political theorists of the contemporary era lies in his ability to integrate historical sociology, comparative analysis, and political theory into a coherent interpretation of global capitalism after the Cold War. His later writings explore the crisis of the Left after the collapse of Soviet communism and the challenges facing emancipatory politics.
