Annual General Meeting 2007

The HCAAO 2007 Annual General Meeting took place Sunday, December 9, 2007, 4:00 p.m., at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology at the University of Toronto, Room BA 5256, 40 St. George Street.

Old and new members as well as potential members were welcome. The meeting was followed by a dinner at the Greek town of Danforth.

Nuit-Blanche 2007

With the coordination of the General Consulate of Greece in Toronto (Consul General Mr. Efthymiades) and support by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Secretariat of Greeks Abroad, Deputy Minister Theodore Kassimis), HCAAO was one of the supporters of the events of Nuit-Blanche, a night of art exhibits, theatrical and musical performances in Toronto, on Saturday, September 29, 2007.

HCAAO contributed in the organization of the modern theatrical adaptation of traditional Greek play Golfo, “Golfo 2.3 Beta”. The performance (one of the several Greek events of that night) took place in the Church of the Redeemer, a prime location of downtown Toronto, which attracted thousands of viewers.

Get-together Dinner 2007

All members, potential members, and their guests were invited to this year’s get-together dinner, Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Ontario Club, King Gallery room, 3rd floor, 1 King Street West, Toronto, intersection of Yonge and King streets, Tel: (416) 862-1270.

This year we  invited Dr. Evangelos Michelakis, Professor of Medicine, University of Alberta as our guest speaker. Dr. Michelakis’s research was recently the subject of several journal and newspaper articles around the world, and received television coverage as well.

Dinner-Dance 2007

The Hellenic-Canadian Academic Association of Ontario in cooperation with the Hippocrates Hellenic-Canadian Medical Association, the Hellenic-Canadian Lawyers Association and the Asclepius Dental Society organised a dinner-dance on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Liberty Grand, 25 British Columbia Rd., Exhibition Place, Toronto.

Entertainment included live Greek music featuring Orchestra Opa-Opa. A silent auction took place in parallel with the dinner and dance.

This was a fund-raising event. All proceeds go towards student scholarships and various Greek Charitable Organizations.
